Health Inspection Compliance — pf-health-inspection
Turn a 3-hour health inspection prep cycle into a 20-minute workflow. Free.
Generate HACCP inspection checklists, temperature log reports, violation documentation, and corrective action plans — with FDA Food Code 2022 §-level citations, HACCP principle references, and state-specific health code variations. The core workflow of ComplianceMate and Jolt at included with your subscription.
Important: All documents generated by this plugin are drafts intended as starting points. Health inspection and compliance documents should be reviewed by your qualified health and safety officer before submission to regulatory agencies.
Why This Exists
Independent restaurant operators pay $492–4,200+/year for food safety compliance software. The core workflow — generate a checklist, log temperatures, document violations, produce a Corrective Action Plan — is pure document generation. This plugin does that work locally, with your data staying on your computer, included with your subscription. Every output now includes authoritative FDA Food Code 2022 §-level regulatory citations.
Quick Start
- Install the plugin in Cowork mode
- Run
/health-inspection:health-inspection-setup— creates folders and enters your restaurant info - Run
/health-inspection:health-inspection-checklist— generates your pre-inspection checklist with FDA citations - Place your temperature CSV in
inbound/→ run/health-inspection:health-inspection-temp-log - After an inspection, upload the report → run violations → run cap
- Need a quick regulatory lookup? Run
/health-inspection:health-inspection-kb cooking temps

How It Works
Three independent workflows, all anchored to an initial setup:
Pre-inspection: Setup → Checklist (with state-specific addenda)
Post-inspection: Violations (FDA Risk Factor classification) → CAP (HACCP Principle 5 framework)
Ongoing: Temp-Log (§3-501.16 thresholds, standalone weekly/monthly)
Reference: KB (instant regulatory lookups)
Each skill reads its required inputs from the workspace, generates JSON intermediates in processing/, and writes finished documents to outbound/. No cloud connectivity required. The knowledge base skill provides centralized FDA Food Code 2022 references, HACCP principles, and state health code variations used by all other skills.

Estimated Cost per Use
Disclaimer: Token estimates are approximate and based on typical usage patterns measured from skill prompt sizes. Actual costs vary with input data size, conversation length, and complexity. Estimates use Claude Sonnet 4.6 pricing ($3/1M input, $15/1M output). Cowork and Claude Desktop subscription users (Pro/Max/Team) are not charged per-token — these estimates apply only to direct Anthropic API usage. Running stages individually in fresh sessions uses fewer input tokens than running the full pipeline sequentially, because pipeline mode accumulates conversation history across stages.
Per skill (run individually in a fresh session):
| Stage | Skill Prompt | User Input | Total Input | Output | Est. Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| health-inspection-violations | ~4.2K | ~800 | ~8.0K | ~4.2K | ~$0.09 |
| health-inspection-temp-log | ~4.5K | ~800 | ~8.2K | ~4.5K | ~$0.09 |
| health-inspection-checklist | ~5.2K | ~800 | ~8.8K | ~4.0K | ~$0.09 |
| health-inspection-cap | ~3.7K | ~800 | ~7.5K | ~3.7K | ~$0.08 |
| health-inspection-kb | ~6.2K | ~800 | ~9.9K | ~6.0K | ~$0.12 |
| Standalone total | ~42.4K | ~22.4K | ~$0.46 |
Full pipeline (all stages in one session — context accumulates):
| Stage | Base Input | + History | Total Input | Output | Est. Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| health-inspection-violations | ~8.5K | 0 | ~8.5K | ~4.2K | ~$0.09 |
| health-inspection-temp-log | ~8.9K | ~5.0K | ~13.8K | ~4.5K | ~$0.11 |
| health-inspection-checklist | ~9.5K | ~10.3K | ~19.8K | ~4.0K | ~$0.12 |
| health-inspection-cap | ~8.1K | ~15.1K | ~23.2K | ~3.7K | ~$0.13 |
| health-inspection-kb | ~10.5K | ~19.6K | ~30.1K | ~6.0K | ~$0.18 |
| Pipeline total | ~95.5K | ~22.4K | ~$0.62 |
Running the full pipeline once typically costs $0.44–$0.81 in API tokens (Claude Sonnet 4.6).
AI-Powered Features
- HACCP Checklist Generation: Creates FDA Food Code 2022-based inspection checklists with §-level citations (§3-401.11 cooking, §3-501.16 holding, §2-301.11 handwashing) customized to restaurant type, equipment, and jurisdiction; includes state-specific addenda for 10 US states
- Temperature Log Analysis: Processes temperature CSV data, validates against §3-501.16 thresholds (cold ≤41°F, hot ≥135°F), checks 2-stage cooling per §3-501.14, flags violations with regulatory citations, and generates compliance reports with equipment grouping
- Violation Documentation: Parses inspection reports and classifies violations using FDA Risk Factor framework (RF-1 through RF-5) with §-level citations; maps to CDC contributing factor categories for pattern analysis
- Corrective Action Planning: Generates CAPs following HACCP Principle 5 corrective action framework (21 CFR 120.10) with 5-element structure: cause identification, product disposition, CCP restoration, recurrence prevention, documentation
- Regulatory Knowledge Base: Instant lookup of FDA Food Code 2022 sections, HACCP principles with 21 CFR cross-references, state health code variations (10 states), allergen regulations (FALCPA/FASTER Act), temperature thresholds, and violation severity classifications
Known Limitations & Workarounds
This is a Claude Cowork plugin, not a traditional SaaS application. It has architectural constraints you should know about before adopting it.
| Limitation | Impact | Workaround |
|---|---|---|
| No real-time IoT sensor integration | Cannot replace ComplianceMate's LoRaWAN wireless sensors. Users must manually enter temperature readings via CSV. | Provide a structured CSV template in inbound/. Log temps on paper or phone, then batch-upload. Consumer WiFi thermometers ($50–100) can export CSV automatically. |
| No persistent regulatory update feed | Health codes change; plugin uses FDA Food Code 2022 baseline and cannot auto-pull jurisdiction-specific updates. | README documents reference version. Users should verify local code annually. Checklist includes a 'local code addendum' section. |
| No automated staff reminders | Cannot send temperature log reminders to staff phones as ComplianceMate and Jolt do. | Plugin generates a printable log template. Scheduling reminders handled externally (phone alarms, calendar). |
| No multi-location dashboard | Single-user, single-location operation. | Run the plugin separately per location. Outputs are stored in separate workspace folders. |
| State coverage limited to 10 states | State-specific addenda available for CA, TX, FL, NY, IL, PA, OH, GA, NC, NJ only. Other states use FDA baseline. | Users in other states should verify local requirements with their health department. |
| Legal disclaimer required | All outputs are preparation tools, not certified regulatory documents. | Every output includes a mandatory disclaimer. CFSM review required before submission per §2-102.11. |
Summary of key limitations:
- No IoT sensor integration — temperature readings must be entered manually as CSV; real-time wireless sensor monitoring (ComplianceMate/Jolt feature) is not supported.
- FDA Food Code 2022 baseline — checklists use FDA 2022 with §-level citations as the reference standard; state-specific addenda cover 10 states; other jurisdictions must verify locally.
- No automated reminders — corrective action deadlines and temperature log schedules must be tracked externally (calendar, phone alarms).
- Single-user, single-location — no multi-location dashboard or real-time collaboration between staff members.
- Outputs require CFSM review — all generated documents (especially CAPs) must be reviewed by a Certified Food Safety Manager per §2-102.11 before submission to the health department.
- Session-based operation — plugin runs during active Cowork sessions only; no background processing or scheduled automated runs.
Context & Performance Guide
Session Management
Claude's context window (200K tokens) is shared across the entire session. The full pipeline uses an estimated peak of ~60K tokens — well within single-session limits for most use cases.
- For very large temperature logs (>500 rows), start a fresh session before running temp-log for best quality output.
- For the highest quality CAP generation after a complex inspection (15+ violations), run violations and CAP in separate sessions.
Data Volume
- Tested with up to 300 temperature readings in a single run.
- For larger datasets (500+ rows), the plugin automatically warns you and groups the output by equipment.
- Checklist generation and CAP work well up to 20+ violations without degradation.
Tips for Best Results
- Place input files in
inbound/rather than pasting data in chat — file reading is more context-efficient. - Keep messages concise during pipeline runs — every message stays in the context window.
- Use consistent date formats in your temperature CSV (YYYY-MM-DD or MM/DD/YYYY both work).
- If output quality degrades, start a new session and re-run the current stage — the plugin saves state between stages.
Requirements
- Claude Desktop with Cowork mode enabled
- Python 3.8+ (pre-installed in Cowork)
- python-docx (auto-installed by setup)
- openpyxl (auto-installed by setup, for XLSX support)
