pf-tax-organizer

Turn a 3-hour client document collection process into a 15-minute workflow — with IRS code-level accuracy built in.

Tax Organizer automates the client document collection and tax preparation workflow for solo CPAs and small accounting firms (1–5 staff). It generates entity-aware questionnaires, document checklists, 1099 income summaries, deduction analysis, quarterly estimated payments, and CPA-ready prep packages — an alternative to tools like SafeSend Returns (~$1,500/yr) and Canopy ($1,200–4,800/yr) for firms priced out of enterprise solutions.

Important: All documents generated by this plugin are drafts intended as starting points. Tax documents and organizers must be reviewed by a qualified tax professional before filing. Tax law changes frequently — always verify with current IRS guidance or qualified counsel.

Installation

  1. Download the pf-tax-organizer.plugin file
  2. Open Claude Desktop and navigate to Settings > Plugins
  3. Click Install Plugin and select the downloaded .plugin file
  4. The plugin will be installed and available immediately

Note: All data stays local on your machine. No external API calls or cloud storage required.

Estimated Cost per Use

Disclaimer: Token estimates are approximate and based on typical usage patterns measured from skill prompt sizes. Actual costs vary with input data size, conversation length, and complexity. Estimates use Claude Sonnet 4.6 pricing ($3/1M input, $15/1M output). Cowork and Claude Desktop subscription users (Pro/Max/Team) are not charged per-token — these estimates apply only to direct Anthropic API usage. Running stages individually in fresh sessions uses fewer input tokens than running the full pipeline sequentially, because pipeline mode accumulates conversation history across stages.

Per skill (run individually in a fresh session):

Stage Skill Prompt User Input Total Input Output Est. Cost
tax-comparison ~8.6K ~800 ~12.6K ~6.0K ~$0.13

Known Limitations

  1. No e-signature capability. This plugin handles the document collection phase only — not the delivery/signature phase. For e-signatures on completed returns, use a free tool like DocuSign (free tier) or HelloSign alongside this plugin.

  2. No client portal. Clients cannot upload documents directly to the plugin. The accountant downloads received documents and places them in inbound/. A cloud folder share (Google Drive, Dropbox) can serve as the inbound mechanism.

  3. No automatic IRS rule updates. The plugin does not auto-update when IRS changes forms or contribution limits. All generated documents include a tax year stamp (e.g., "Prepared for tax year 2025"). Review questionnaire modules annually at the start of each tax season.

  4. No automatic email sending. Generated follow-up emails are draft templates the accountant copies into their email client and sends manually. The plugin handles drafting and personalization — not delivery.

  5. No persistent scheduling. Reminder emails cannot be sent automatically on a schedule. The accountant runs /tax:tax-followup manually and sends the generated emails.
